1. Overview

StylixAI is a Chrome extension that helps users customize any website using AI-powered natural language commands. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Key Point: StylixAI does NOT collect, store, or sell any personal browsing data. All AI modifications are processed locally in your browser. The only data interactions are secure account authentication via Appwrite and Pro subscription status verification.

2. Data Collection

StylixAI does not collect, record, or track any of the following:

  • Your web browsing history, behavior, or analytics
  • Target website login credentials or cookies
  • Usage statistics or telemetry

For account creation and subscription management, the only personal information processed is your email address and basic profile initials securely stored via Appwrite.

3. Data Processing

The extension processes the following data locally in your browser:

  • Page Elements: The layout structure and styles of elements you select are read locally to generate AI modifications. This context is relayed to your selected AI provider (Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude) via your own active, logged-in session.
  • User Settings: Your customization rules and theme configurations are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync APIs.
  • Authentication Status: When you log in, your session token is verified securely using Appwrite API endpoints (cloud.appwrite.io). DodoPayments webhook updates your account status to Pro, which is read securely through Appwrite Preferences.

4. Third-Party AI Services

When you trigger a modification, selected page elements are sent to your chosen AI provider through their web interface embedded in the extension's side panel. These services are subject to their respective terms and privacy policies:

Important: StylixAI does NOT host or operate its own AI generation servers. All generation queries are routed directly from your browser to your logged-in AI provider.

5. Subscription & Payment Processing

StylixAI offers a Pro subscription. Payments are securely processed by our third-party merchant of record, DodoPayments. When you subscribe:

  • Your transaction metadata includes your unique Appwrite User ID.
  • Upon payment completion, DodoPayments secure webhook updates your Appwrite user preference to Pro state.
  • The extension reads this Pro status securely to unlock unlimited rules and generations. No license key entry is required.

6. Data Storage

All styling rules, settings, and UI preferences are stored locally on your device:

  • User settings are stored via chrome.storage.local.
  • Subscription preferences sync via chrome.storage.sync.
  • No layout structures or CSS modifications are stored on our servers.
  • Uninstalling the extension permanently clears all local configuration data.

7. Chrome Permissions Justification

StylixAI requests the following browser permissions to function:

sidePanel

Renders the StylixAI control center beside your tab, allowing you to manage AI settings, apply style presets, and configure rules on the fly.

activeTab & scripting

Required to inject the visual element selector overlay, read selected element structures, and apply AI-generated CSS modifications to the page.

storage

Required to persist your style rules, UI layout state, theme choices, and subscription limits locally across browser sessions.

tabs

Enables background routing communication and active session state coordination with the side panel.

alarms

Used to periodically check subscription state in the background without affecting performance.

declarativeNetRequest

Modifies frame headers to bypass restrictive X-Frame-Options, allowing securely sandboxed AI provider embeds inside the sidepanel iframe.

cookies

Used to read session cookies from AI provider websites to verify login status before sending API requests, and to store a small local usage counter for daily generation tracking.

offscreen

Creates an offscreen document that provides DOM access for building authenticated API requests to ChatGPT. The service worker cannot access certain DOM APIs, so the offscreen document handles request preparation on-demand.

Host Permissions

The extension requires permission to access these specific domains:

  • <all_urls> — To allow selector injection and stylesheet loading on websites you choose to style
  • chatgpt.com / chat.openai.com — To securely load ChatGPT inside the iframe panel
  • gemini.google.com — To securely load Gemini inside the iframe panel
  • claude.ai — To securely load Claude inside the iframe panel

8. Data Sharing

StylixAI does NOT:

  • Sell or share user data to any third party or advertisers
  • Build user profiles or use data for behavioral targeting
  • Transmit browsing context to external databases

9. Data Retention

We retain data only as long as necessary for functional services:

  • Local Settings: Custom rules are kept on your device until manually deleted or uninstalled.
  • Account profile: Email and auth sessions remain active on Appwrite until you log out or delete your account.
  • Uninstalling the extension permanently clears all locally stored rules.

10. User Rights & Data Control

You have full control over your data. You can view, export, or delete all your saved rules directly from the Rules tab inside the extension. Since we do not store your rules on our servers, uninstalling the extension permanently deletes all configuration data.

11. Security

All communication with Appwrite authentication services and DodoPayments endpoints uses highly secure, industry-standard HTTPS encryption. The extension operates under strict Content Security Policies (CSP) to prevent unauthorized code injection.

12. Children's Privacy

StylixAI is not designed for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect or store any information from children.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally. Updated terms will be marked by the new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
